Rec Room is shutting down.
We're not letting it go.
RecUnion is a group of players and developers reverse-engineering Rec Room's servers so the game can keep running after the official shutdown. No corporate backing, no monetization. Just people who don't want to lose the place where they met their friends.
Every day matters. If you can help, now's the time.
Remember when...
Paintball
Screaming callouts in a 3v3. Getting sniper kills from across Quarry. The lobby trash talk that somehow always ended in a friend request.
Golden Trophy
Four strangers figuring out the barrel puzzle together. Wiping on the last boss and then somehow clutching it. The S-rank flex in the dorm after.
Dorm Room
Throwing stuff at the mirror. Showing off new outfits. That weirdly peaceful feeling of just... existing in your space between games.
Jumbotron
The laser rifle. The elevator conversations. Dying on wave 7 and having to start over. Finally beating it and feeling like a god.
Maker Pen
Spending 6 hours building a room that 3 people visited. And it was worth every second because one of them said "this is actually sick."
Rec Center Lobby
The starting point. Random people juggling, playing charades, or just vibing by the bulletin board. The first thing you saw every time you put on the headset.
The technical side
What we're actually building
We're not making a clone or a spiritual successor. We're reverse-engineering the actual server protocol so the existing Rec Room client can connect to community-run servers. Same game, different backend.
Classic movement & feel
We're targeting the pre-2020 movement system. Snappy teleport, smooth walk-mode, and the physics that made dodgeball actually fun.
Community-hosted servers
Run your own server. Host a paintball night, a private quest session, or just a chill dorm hangout. No corporate permission needed.
Room building, unblocked
Maker Pen without the token limits and content restrictions. If you want to build a 4-story obstacle course at 3am, go for it.
